Tool 8.1 CARE Model: Planning Tool

Identify Concerns that must change (look to the future)

(Assign points to concerns from 1 to 3 in the order of the most important issues to consider.)

1. Increase student interaction and knowledge on core subject areas

2. Increase teacher knowledge on technology equipment

3.Increase collaboration amongst teachers

Identify Affirmations that must be sustained (look to the present)

(Assign points to affirmations from 1 to 3 in the order of the most important issues to consider.)

1. Higher testing scores

2. Teachers must continue to enhance their knowledge of technology use in the classroom

3. Technology training must continue to be offered to keep succeeding

SMART Recommendations that must be implemented:

(Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timely)

(Assign points to recommendations from 1 to 3 in the order of the most important recommendations to implement.)

1. Students will use technology programs to increase student achievement

2. Continued professional development centered around use of technology, specifically the iPads

3. Survey teachers to make sure they aren't finding any barriers to using technology in the classroom

EVALUATE – Specifically and Often

(Identify the best ways to evaluate the implemented recommendations.)

1. Compare baseline testing on students before utilizing iPads for core teaching content

2. Compare teacher technology knowledge before utilizing iPads and then after with discussions and surveys

3. Evaluate how iPad applications keep special ed students in line with curriculum
